DC DMV Vehicle Re-Inspection Program

Effective August 5, the DC Department of Motor Vehicles will begin its Vehicle Re-inspection Program.   Fourteen independent service stations have been certified to re-inspect vehicles for SAFETY violations ONLY.  If you have passed the emissions and brake portion of the test at the DMV Inspection Station, but have failed the safety portion, you may either revisit the DMV Inspection Station, or go to one of the independent re-inspection stations.

The re-inspection fee at the independent stations is $25.  These stations may charge additional fees for the repair of your vehicle.  The Government of the District of Columbia is not responsible for the quality of workmanship or fees charged for the repair of your vehicle.  Please contact the service station for fees and hours of operation.

NO EMISSIONS OR BRAKE TESTS WILL BE PERFORMED AT THE RE-INSPECTION STATIONS.

You must present your DMV inspection report when you go to the re-inspection station.
