The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles Southwest Service Center, located at 95 M Street, SW, is providing limited services to customers today due to water damage and related facility and computer issues.
The facility issues resulted in the closing of several service counters at approximately 1:00 p.m. From 1:30 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. closing today, only customers with expired driver licenses, identification cards and vehicle registrations will be processed. No other services are being offered due to limited servicing space.
The Southwest Service Center provides driver license/identification card applications/renewals, vehicle registrations/renewals, dealer, IRP and taxi services and bus trip permit.
Clean-up of the water damage commenced this afternoon and the Southwest Service Center is expected to open on Tuesday, August 28 for regularly scheduled hours of operation.
Customers are encouraged to check our website (dmv.dc.gov), contact us at 202-727-5000 and watch media coverage to ensure the temporary service reduction at this location is not extended.
All other DMV Service Centers and Adjudication services operate Monday through Friday and are closed on Saturdays.
