If you have been in a crash and you need DC DMV's insurance of record of a DC vehicle tag number, you can obtain the information from DC DMV online for a fee.

Insurance Record Search by Mail

You can also obtain the insurance record information by mail, for a fee, by sending a letter with your contact information, a check/money order (made payable to DC Treasurer) and the DC tag number for which you need the insurance information to:

You can also visit a DC DMV service center for the insurance record and pay the fee.

Note: In all cases, the DC DMV insurance record will not include any personal information related to the vehicle owner. It will only provide vehicle insurance information, as reported to DC DMV, to assist you with an insurance claim.
