District’s Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.6 Percent

Washington, DC – The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services reported today that the preliminary November  job estimates show a decrease of 1,200 jobs, for a total of 736,300 jobs in the District. The private sector gained 200 jobs, while the public sector payrolls declined by 1,400 jobs. The numbers are drawn from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) through its monthly survey of the District of Columbia’s employers.
