Washington Metro Division Shows an Overall Increase of 7,900 Jobs in May

(Washington, DC) - The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) reported today that the preliminary May job estimates show an increase of 7,900 jobs for a total of 2,520,700 jobs in the Washington Metropolitan Division. The private sector increased by 6,300 jobs, while the public sector gained 1,600 jobs. The Washington Metropolitan Division’s not seasonally adjusted May 2014 unemployment rate was 5.1 percent, which is up 0.5 percentage points from the April rate of 4.6 percent.
