CultureCapital, founded in 1978 by arts and business leaders as the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, is a non-profit membership umbrella organization that unites the Metro DC arts community and provides services and resources to strengthen their organizations. After two years of research, led by the Taproot Foundation, our new name and logo reflect our identity and purpose to connect, engage, and promote the arts. We are CultureCapital, Your Metro DC Arts Alliance.
CultureCapital.com connects users to DC’s thriving arts and culture community. This virtual arts marketplace provides information and ticket-purchase options for shows, performances, classes and exhibitions offered by more than 300 regional arts organizations and cultural institutions, making it the region’s richest and most diverse collection of arts and culture activities.
The DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative provides equitable access to arts and humanities education for DC Public and Public Charter Schools for the growth of the whole child. The DC Collaborative believes that the arts—inclusive of music, visual arts, theater, dance, and literary arts—are central to the education of every student.
The Humanities Council of Washington, DC funds and conducts humanities-based cultural and educational programs for Washingtonians in every ward. The Council is a private, non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The National Endowment for the Arts supports excellence in the arts, both new and established; brings the arts to all Americans; and provides leadership in arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government, the Endowment is the nation’s largest annual funder of the arts.
Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts provides education, advocacy and volunteer legal services through workshops and seminars, legal clinics for artists and arts organizations, and pro-bono referral services.
