Commercial Driver License (CDL) Skills Road Test

An individual seeking to schedule a CDL Skills Road test must possess a CDL learner permit for at least 30 days and bring the appropriate vehicle for the Class license and/or endorsements they are seeking to obtain. CDL Skills Road test examinations are administered in English only. The CDL Skills Road test will take approximately two hours. Effective July 1, 2011, there is a fee for each road test taken.

Arrive with a CDL licensed driver 21 years of age or older that holds the same drivers license class and endorsements for which you are testing.

If the applicant fails the first skills road test, they must wait at least 60 days before re-testing. If the applicant fails the 2nd or subsequent skills road test, they must wait at least 90 days before re-testing.

Endorsements for Hazardous Materials (H) and Tankers (T) do not require a Skills Road Test. Endorsements for H, T and X (Hazardous Material and Tankers) may not be obtained prior to the issuance of the appropriate CDL (Class A, B or C). Endorsement (S) will not be displayed on the CDL learner’s permit.
