You may obtain a driver's license once you take and pass the eye
test, the knowledge test, and the skills road test. You may not
obtain a DC driver's license while maintaining a valid license
from another jurisdiction. A driver's license is valid for up to
eight years for US citizens, and this period may vary for non-US
citizens according to the US immigration expiration date. Visit
the DMV motorcycle
driver's license page for information on this type of license.
Non-US
Citizens (foreign nationals) may be eligible for a DC driver’s license based on eligibility requirements.
The Patriot Act, Public Law 108-458, National Intelligence Reform
Act of 2004 does NOT allow for social security numbers to be displayed
on driver licenses or identification cards.
