Ticket Payments

A person receiving a parking, minor moving, or photo enforcement ticket must respond within 60 calendar days (including weekends and holidays) of the date on the ticket. However, if you do not pay within 30 calendar days, a penalty equal to your fine will be added. The day after the date on the ticket counts as day one. If you do not pay or contest the ticket within 30 calendar days a penalty equal to the fine amount is added (the ticket doubles). Drivers may admit liability and pay the ticket, or contest the ticket. In accordance with District law, if you submit payment for a ticket fine, you can no longer adjudicate the ticket; therefore, if you are within the 120 days of the ticket being issued and you want to dispute the penalty, you should not pay any portion of the ticket.
