Starting June 1, 2017, DC DMV began issuing a new driver license and identification card with the same look; however, the jurisdiction will be Washington, DC. All existing credentials are valid until the expiration date.

Starting June 6, 2017, the Inspection Station is operating on Spring/Summer hours.

DC DMV Dealership Inspections and Enforcement

DC DMV, at its discretion, may conduct on- or off-site dealership audits to ensure that a dealership is complying with DC regulations. Dealers found to be in violation of DC regulations will be fined up to $1,000 for each violation, or will have their dealership registration suspended or revoked. Any dealership whose registration has been suspended or revoked must return all

  • Dealer tags
  • Title reassignment forms
  • Temporary registration certificates

to DC DMV within 5 business days of the suspension or revocation notice.
