DC DMV, at its discretion, may conduct on- or off-site dealership audits to ensure that a dealership is complying with DC regulations. Dealers found to be in violation of DC regulations will be fined up to $1,000 for each violation, or will have their dealership registration suspended or revoked. Any dealership whose registration has been suspended or revoked must return all:

  • Dealer tags
  • Title reassignment forms
  • Temporary registration certificates

to DC DMV within 5 business days of the suspension or revocation notice.
