Friday, January 22, 2016

(WASHINGTON, DC) – In addition to closing at 12pm on Friday, January 22, 2016, the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) will be closed on Saturday, January 23rd due to the inclement weather.

DC DMV will reschedule road tests appointments, and customers with Limited Purpose appointments on Friday afternoon or Saturday can visit a DC DMV Service Center any Wednesday in February 2016 between 9am – 3pm.

Adjudication Services is scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 25. The Service Centers, Inspection Station, and Brentwood Road Test Office are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, January 26.

Customers should expect high volume next week due to the closings. If in-person services are required, DC DMV encourages customers to plan ahead and “Know Before You Go” prior to visiting to a Service Center. Additionally, DC DMV has more than 45 online services, enabling customers to “skip the in-person trip,” including:

·        Renew vehicle registration (can only be done online or by mail; no in-person visit)

·        Obtain duplicate vehicle registration

·        Renew driver license

·        Obtain duplicate driver license

·        Renew identification card

·        Surrender tags

·        Obtain driver record

Also, with any online or in-person transaction in which DC DMV collects money, customers now have the option to make a donation to the DonateLifeDC organ donor registry to support organ and tissue donation for people located in the Washington, DC community.
