Fraud Reporting

The Office of Service Integrity within DC DMV is responsible for investigating cases of DC DMV-related fraud. This fraud is defined as intentional misrepresentation or concealment of information in order to deceive or mislead during the processing of a DC DMV product or service.

You may ask DC DMV’s Office of Service Integrity to investigate instances or suspected instances of DC DMV-related fraud if:

  • You suspect that you are a victim of DC DMV related fraud, or
  • You are aware of an individual, business, or organization that knowingly engages in DC DMV related fraud.

Visit to file a report with the DC DMV’s Office of Service Integrity. Once received and reviewed DC DMV's Office of Service Integrity may reach back out to you if more information is needed. Please be as thorough as possible with details and descriptions. The Office of Service Integrity reviews all complaints submitted and decides whether to open an active investigation, refer the complaint to another agency, or refer you to another jurisdiction, if applicable.

Some complaints are complex and may require several weeks or months to resolve.

You must not submit a false fraud report. Making a false statement is a violation of DC law and means you could be fined up to $1,000 or imprisoned for 180 days, or both (DC Official Code § 22-2405).
