DC DMV will issue a temporary rental car parking permit to a District resident in a residential parking zoned neighborhood. You must present the following documents at a DC DMV Service Center:

• Rental agreement listing your name, the vehicle identification number, make, and model. If the agreement indicates that insurance has been declined, you must show proof that you have DC insurance on an existing vehicle that is registered in the District.
• Valid vehicle registration for the rental car. 
• Copy of DC DMV driver license

The parking permit is free of charge and valid for up to 15 days. To renew the permit, all information must be resubmitted.
