-We are experiencing a system error that is causing duplicate refund checks to be issued to some DMV customers erroneously. If you have been affected by the glitch, to quickly resolve this matter please deposit or cash one check and destroy the other. If you attempt to cash the second check, it will not be honored by the bank.
We apologize to all DMV customers for the inconvenience as we diligently work to rectify this issue.

-DC DMV will no longer prevent DC residents from applying for a new or renewed driver license because of failing to meet the requirements of the Clean Hands Law.

Respond to a Ticket

When you are issued a parking, photo enforcement or minor moving violation ticket in the District, please visit the understanding the ticket timeline webpage to know your options.

Do not pay the ticket if you want to admit with an explanation or contest it. Once you pay the ticket (either the original fine, the penalty or both), you no longer have the administrative option to adjudicate it.

DC DMV offers online or by mail adjudication of parking or photo enforcement ticket fines and penalties.

The Ticket Adjudication Ombudsman assists customers with help in navigating the adjudication process. The Ombudsman is also responsible for providing assistance with complaints and concerns on the laws, rules, policies and procedures regarding the adjudication of moving violations, automatic traffic enforcement violations and parking, standing, stopping and pedestrian violations.
