Due to the Code Purple Air Quality Alert, DC DMV closed its Inspection Station, located at 1001 Half Street SW at 10 am. Customers who planned to visit the inspection station today because their inspection stickers are expiring will be given a five-calendar day extension to renew. DC DMV’s Service Centers will remain open during normal business hours. Many of DC DMV services can be completed online or via the mobile app, allowing customers to “skip-the-trip.”

On February 5, the Georgetown DMV Service Center experienced a significant water main break. Due to flooding impacts, the Georgetown DMV Service Center will remain closed to the public until further notice. DC DMV's services will remain available at our other locations, online and via our mobile app.

Online Driving Self-Assessment

DC DMV's mission is to promote public safety by ensuring the safe operation of motor vehicles. Driving is one of the most complex things that people do, and it is not always easy to be a safe user of the roadway. Being a safe driver takes a lot of skill, experience, responsibility, and judgment. You must be alert, keep your mind on driving, obey the laws and be courteous to other motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

DC DMV’s online driving self-assessment is a tool you can use to determine your ability to continue to safely operate a motor vehicle. This assessment will help you determine whether you need to improve any of your driving skills to stay safe.
