On February 5^th, the Georgetown DMV Service Center experienced a significant water main break. Due to flooding impacts, the Georgetown DMV Service Center will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Due to an unforeseen power outage, the Rhode Island DMV Service Center will be closed to the public on Saturday, February 7th.

DC DMV's services will remain available at our other locations, online and via our mobile app.

Paying DMV Fees

DMV accepts payments in the form of cash, check, money order, credit card, contactless or digital wallet.
Checks will be accepted up to 90 days from their issuance date, unless otherwise indicated on the check.

Please note:
Beginning December 15, 2025, the DC DMV will assess a 2.5% service fee to all debit and credit card transactions completed online, through the mobile app, and in-person. The agency’s online payment platforms will accept Electronic Check (ACH) payments with no service fee added.
All outstanding debts (child support payments, outstanding tickets and dishonored checks) to the DC Government must be satisfied before completing most of your DMV transactions.
