Due to the Code Purple Air Quality Alert, DC DMV closed its Inspection Station, located at 1001 Half Street SW at 10 am. Customers who planned to visit the inspection station today because their inspection stickers are expiring will be given a five-calendar day extension to renew. DC DMV’s Service Centers will remain open during normal business hours. Many of DC DMV services can be completed online or via the mobile app, allowing customers to “skip-the-trip.”

On February 5, the Georgetown DMV Service Center experienced a significant water main break. Due to flooding impacts, the Georgetown DMV Service Center will remain closed to the public until further notice. DC DMV's services will remain available at our other locations, online and via our mobile app.

Show Cause Hearing Application

Friday, December 9, 2022

Drivers who request a hearing in response to being served with a Notice of Proposed Revocation must request a show cause hearing for the alcohol-related offense (DUI, DWI, OWI). The hearing examiner will take testimony from the arresting officer concerning the circumstances surrounding your charge. The hearing examiner will also take testimony from you. You can be represented by counsel and/or present witnesses. At the conclusion of the hearing, the hearing examiner will decide whether to take action against your driver’s license or driving privileges, such as ordering a suspension or revocation.
