Due to the Code Purple Air Quality Alert, DC DMV closed its Inspection Station, located at 1001 Half Street SW at 10 am. Customers who planned to visit the inspection station today because their inspection stickers are expiring will be given a five-calendar day extension to renew. DC DMV’s Service Centers will remain open during normal business hours. Many of DC DMV services can be completed online or via the mobile app, allowing customers to “skip-the-trip.”

On February 5, the Georgetown DMV Service Center experienced a significant water main break. Due to flooding impacts, the Georgetown DMV Service Center will remain closed to the public until further notice. DC DMV's services will remain available at our other locations, online and via our mobile app.

Side Guards

The following will now be required for a commercial motor vehicle inspection exceeding gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) 8,501 lbs:

Section 758.1 Commercial motor vehicles registered in the District with a manufacturer’s GVWR exceeding 8,501 lbs shall be equipped with a side guard.

Note: If the side guards are not installed or not installed properly, the vehicle fails safety inspection.
