District DMV Ticket Payment System is Operational

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles’ (DC DMV) ticket payment system is now operational.

Due to a power outage in its vendor’s New York office, DC DMV was unable to process ticket payments, research tickets, or access tickets until 5pm today.

For those who had scheduled hearings and in-person hearings and provided DC DMV with a hard copy of the ticket(s) and evidence, the hearing decision will be entered into the system later. DC DMV will also mail customers the hearing decision.

Additionally, the deadline for ticket payments as well as for customers to submit a request for adjudication to contest tickets today will be extended until Wednesday, August 31, 2016. DC DMV will also remove any vehicle storage fees accrued during the outage.

Also, please note that all DC DMV locations open one hour later on Wednesdays and close at the regular time. A complete list of locations is available on the agency’s website at http://dmv.dc.gov.

Residents and others with questions can call the Office of the Director at (202)727-2200.

DC DMV apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may have caused.
