Lienholders who repossess a vehicle must submit the following documents within 5 business days in person at any DC DMV Service Center, or by mail to the DC DMV Processing Center at 95 M St SW, Washington, DC 20024.
- DC Title Application
- DC Title
- Odometer Statement
- Lien Contract
- Letter to owner advising defaulted payments/intent to sell
- Condition Report of the vehicle(s)
- Check or money order for payment
There will be a title fee for repossessions. View more information on the DC DMV Fees.
Note: The DC DMV will issue a title in the name of lienholder within 7 business days of receipt of the documentation.
