-DC DMV recommends the use of masks by employees and customers at all DC DMV facilities. Masks are still required during the in-vehicle portion of a road test.

District DMV Locations to Close for Labor Day Holiday

(Washington, DC) In observance of Labor Day, all District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) locations will be closed on Saturday, August 30 and Monday, September 1, 2014. All DC DMV service centers, adjudication services and the inspection stations will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Also, effective on September 2, the inspection station will begin operating on winter hours and will be open from 7 am – 3 pm, Tuesday - Saturday.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead as the days before and after a holiday are usually busy. The following services are available online at dmv.dc.gov:

·        Renew vehicle registration (can only be done online or by mail; no in-person visit)

·        Obtain duplicate vehicle registration

·        Renew driver license

·        Obtain duplicate driver license

·        Renew identification card

·        Surrender tags

·        Obtain driver record

DC DMV has more than 40 online services, enabling customers to “skip the in-person trip.”
