To obtain limousine and Luxury class sedan tags in the District of Columbia, you must complete the following steps.

Step 1 – Obtain a DFHV One Stop Form and luxury class service (LCS) operating authority application online or at DFHV’s office.

Step 2 – Report to DFHV to have the DFHV LCS operating authority application reviewed and pre-approved.

Note: Vehicle specs must be submitted to DFHV with application for pre-approval

Step 3 – Purchase vehicle, unless it has already been purchased.

Step 4 – Pass a “for hire” DC DMV vehicle inspection. When you go to the inspection station, the DFHV One Stop Form application must be stamped by the inspector.

Step 5 – Return to the DFHV office for final approval. When you return to the DFHV office, the DFHV One Stop Form application must be signed by DFHV personnel.

Step 6 – Report to any DC DMV service center to title and register vehicle.

Step 7 – Title and register vehicle. DC DMV will issue you an L tag.
