(Washington, DC)) – Child Passenger Safety Week is September 15 through 21, 2019, and the Bowser Administration, led by the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) is closing out the week by hosting a child car safety seat check and install on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 2-7 p.m. at its Inspection Station at 1001 Half Street, SW.

"Keeping our children healthy—and safe—are high priorities of Mayor Muriel Bowser, so DC DMV is excited to host our annual car safety seat and check where parents, grandparents, and anyone who travels with a child can learn more about keeping their young passengers safe," said DC DMV Director Gabriel Robinson. "It’s so very important that children are in the right seat for their age, weight, and height, and the seat is correctly installed in the vehicle."

Free booster seats will be provided, while supplies last, to children who are at least four years old. The booster seats are only available to District residents, and the child must be present.

Along with DC DMV, representatives from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) will be on-site to demonstrate how to correctly install a child safety seat.

In addition to closing out Child Passenger Safety Week, this focus on child seat safety comes on the heels of the Mayor’s Maternal and Infant Health Summit on September 10, which is part of her Thrive by Five DC initiative.
