Starting June 1, 2017, DC DMV began issuing a new driver license and identification card with the same look; however, the jurisdiction will be Washington, DC. All existing credentials are valid until the expiration date.

Starting June 6, 2017, the Inspection Station is operating on Spring/Summer hours.

Trip Permits for Non-IRP Registered Commercial Carriers

Motor carriers, chartered buses—including chartered shuttle buses, and other vehicles that fall under the definition of IRP apportionable vehicles, but are not apportioned or fully registered in the District of Columbia, may obtain a trip permit to travel in the District for a fee, if required. The trip permit is valid for 6 days of travel within the District of Columbia. It must be maintained on the vehicle while the vehicle is in the District of Columbia.
