DC DMV's goal is to promote public safety by increasing #VisionZeroDC safety awareness and partnering with other agencies.

All imported vehicles must meet federal motor vehicle safety standards before they can be registered in the District. In order to be registered by DC DMV, motor vehicles must have a certification label that identifies the manufacturer, the date of manufacture and a statement that the vehicle meets federal safety standards.
